As Hard As One Can

26th August 2024

Assalamualaikum and peace be upon you!

Monday. Nothing much. Today we go back to only night livestream. We actually have finished Section 4, Unit 3 kanji! Then I turned to Clozemaster and BaBaDum websites. Here are some words that we've discussed in the livestream:

isshoukenmei

So:

  • 一生懸命(ishhoukenmei) = as hard as one can (hence the entry title hehe)
  • So from here we can see another pronunciation of 生 (shou) besides iki, sei, nama and a few others.
P/S: rey-san from chat in the previous livestream said that there are about a hundred pronunciation of 生

  • 鞄 (kaban) = bag (general)
  • リュック (ryukku) = backpack
  • Note: It is a shortened form of リュックサック (ryukkusakku) 🎒 = rucksack/backpack

  • 袋 (fukuro) = bag/pouch/sack
  • 財布 (saifu) = wallet

I guess we are exploring about baggage since a new follower in chat just asked:

"Isn't bag kaban?"
— Kai

It is because when we were doing the questions in the BaBaDum website, the word for this look-alike bag:

backpack

is リュック, not 鞄. So that's that.

I also learned that 増 has three pronunciations (at least for now):
増 (zou) = increase (noun)
増す (masu) = to increase (transitive verb)
増える (fueru) = to increase (intransitive verb)

Shout out to 睿婕 and CEO👻SakaPencen for the gifts! ありがとうございました!
睿婕 = Heart Me 💖, Cheer You Up
CEO👻SakaPencen = Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai, Ice Cream Cone

I think that's it for this entry. またね~ 👋
